My story
hi, i’m kaitlyn!
Travel has been a huge part of my life since childhood (thank you, adventurous parents!) and remains a huge passion of mine. While Iโm no travel guru or full-time wanderer, Iโve collected plenty of tips and itineraries from my personal experiences. Each year, I aim for one big trip, and in between, I fill my calendar with mini-trips and small adventuresโwhether itโs a weekend getaway to Lake Tahoe (our favorite!) or a local hike. I hope to share relatable and achievable inspiration for bringing more adventure into your own life. My travel guides focus on slower, deeper explorationโimmersing into a specific region and its culture, rather than hopping between cities or countries. If you love discovering natural wonders, hiking, and finding the best food and coffee spots (especially for us vegetarians), then Iโm your gal!

Welcome to my journal!
behind the blog…
This space is a collection of reflections on my life โ a blend of big, worldly adventures, small local explorations, and finding joy in the simple pleasures that ground me at home and in family. Itโs new to me, so it wonโt be perfect, and it might even get a little quirky (like me!). But thatโs part of the fun. I hope youโll join me as I share the experiences that shape my journey and how I balance the adventure of travel with the roots of family life.

When our son Rowan came into our lives, I quickly realized how much parenthood would change me. I knew I wanted a different approach to birth and parentingโone that went against the grain of what Iโd seen as the โsocietal norm.โ After years as a Labor & Delivery nurse, I saw firsthand how the typical hospital experience didnโt align with my values for pregnancy and birth. But once Rowan was born, I found myself navigating an entirely new world of parenting choices. Parenting is one of those things you learn as you go, often shaped by what you see around you. I was determined to break free from societal pressures and find my own pathโone full of co-sleeping, no screens, breastfeeding into toddlerhood, and embracing a more minimalist, connected lifestyle.
Even when itโs challenging and looks a little different now, travel remains a big part of our family life. Itโs something that feeds my soul, and I want to share how we continue to explore with a toddler in tow!
This blog is created as a space for parentsโespecially momsโto feel empowered, supported, and seen. If youโve ever felt overwhelmed or uncertain in your journey, youโre not alone. I hope you find inspiration here and the place of knowing that thereโs no one โrightโ way to parent. Who wants perfect anyway? Thatโs boring! So here it is: raw stories of the ups and downs of parenting, travel, and life.
Follow along as I navigate motherhood, find moments of joy in everyday life, and continue to feed my hunger for exploring this world.
